Funding: Monthly stipend of EUR 2,400 for doctoral fellows (postdoctoral fellows receive EUR 3,400/month), plus a travel subsidy. Who can apply: PhD candidates with ABD status (or equivalent) prior to fellowship start, based at or recent graduates of a North American or European university, whose dissertation fits one of GHI's four thematic areas: German/European/Jewish History; Transatlantic History & History of the Americas; History of Migration & Mobility; History of Empires and their Legacies; preference given to candidates doing original research for a dissertation or second book project. Length: 6 to 12 months, preferably starting September 2026 (per current cycle language). Access to GHI Washington's research facilities and library; integration into GHI's scholarly network; travel subsidy (confirmed). Field: Dissertation Completion.
