Translation Project Fellowships

Funding: $10,000 to $25,000 per fellowship. Who can apply: US citizens or permanent residents; must have already published at least 20 pages of literary translation (in magazines, anthologies, or books) or a full-length play production, meeting a modest early-career publication bar rather than requiring an established career; not eligible if awarded an NEA translation fellowship since Jan 2022 or NEA creative writing fellowship since Jan 2020; does not fund projects tied to academic degrees or purely scholarly work. Length: Up to 2 years. Fellowship period may extend up to two years to complete the translation project; national recognition as an NEA Literature Fellow. Field: Literary Translation.
