Funding: $10,000 stipend (paid in 4 installments of $2,500), plus up to $1,500 additional travel stipend for fellows residing outside southeast Michigan. Who can apply: Open to both currently-enrolled undergraduates (juniors/seniors) AND graduate students (Master's or PhD) at any accredited US college or university; must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident. Since it's open to grad students (not undergrad-only), it satisfies inclusion rules. Length: 12 weeks (program dates approx. May 26, August 14, 2026). Paired with academic and federal (NOAA) research mentors; travel stipend for non-local fellows. Field: Freshwater/Great Lakes science (limnology, water quality, hydrology, aquatic ecosystems, and related Great Lakes research topics). Deadline: February 9, 2026 (for the 2026 cohort).
