Who can apply: Mid-level government officials and other mid-level professionals (ages 25-45) from developing states working directly in ocean affairs and/or law of the sea, holding a completed first university degree, proposing research supporting their nation's ocean policy. Length: 9 months (3-month research/training phase plus 6-month advanced research phase). 3-month research and training phase at UN Headquarters in New York, followed by a 6-month advanced academic research phase at a partner host institution; mentorship from subject matter experts.
