ZSR Sabbatical Program

Funding: $40,000 total: $30,000 to the recipient for personal renewal activities and $10,000 to their organization for staff development/coverage. Who can apply: Paid, full-time executive-level nonprofit leaders in North Carolina with at least 3 years of service (2 in an executive role); preference for 5+ years; excludes public school/university employees, hospital administrators, and full-time clergy. Length: 3-6 months of continuous sabbatical leave. Up to 6 months of paid leave for rest, travel, study, or reflection; organizational transition support via the $10,000 institutional grant. Field: Nonprofit executive sabbatical and organizational leadership renewal. Deadline: Last cycle closed January 2026; next expected fall 2027.
