Walter Benjamin Programme

Funding: Monthly basic fellowship amount plus applicable foreign, cost-of-living, and travel allowances, calculated via DFG's fellowship calculator; direct project costs also covered. Who can apply: Early-stage postdoctoral researchers; for funding abroad, must have worked as a researcher in Germany for at least 3 continuous years during doctoral/postdoctoral phase, or completed the majority of schooling/higher education in Germany. Length: up to 2 years. Supports independent research at a self-chosen location; can be used for a fellowship abroad or, in some cases, a position in Germany. Field: All disciplines including social sciences; individual research fellowship for postdocs. Deadline: rolling (no fixed deadline; review committees meet three times a year, March/July/November).
