Postdoctoral Fellowship for Research in Japan (Standard)

Funding: Monthly stipend JPY 362,000; research support allowance up to JPY 70,000/month; one-time relocation allowance JPY 200,000; round-trip economy airfare; overseas travel insurance. Who can apply: Non-Japanese citizens (Japanese permanent residents ineligible except a narrow exception); PhD obtained within 6 years of application; application must be submitted jointly with a Japanese host researcher/institution, not directly by the candidate. Length: 12 to 24 months. Access to host institution's research facilities; support for building long-term Japan research collaborations. Field: All STEM fields plus humanities/social sciences (STEM applicants form the bulk of awards).
